*Summary of Responsibilities:*
The Intake Specialist is a support staff position responsible for providing screening, diversion, and intake services for individuals experiencing homelessness.

*Qualifications:*
· A strong commitment to Christ and to serving Christ through word and deed in an inner-city ministry setting
· Bachelor’s degree in Social, behavioral, or human services or 2 years of relevant work experience preferred
· The ability to work with, encourage, motivate, and lead all people
· The ability to delegate, organize, and prioritize
· Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
· Possess strong computer skills
· Ability to obtain a HMIS/Shelterpoint license within 30 days of employment
· Possess the qualities of compassion and patience
· Ability to work effectively in constantly changing and sometimes demanding, high paced and stressful environment
· The ability to assess emergency situations and respond effectively
· The ability to work with a diverse population, with sensitivity to differences in culture, religion, sexual orientation, race, and age
· Experience working with substance use and mental health disorders
· Ability to effectively use conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques using restorative practices
· The ability to lift up to 25 pounds using proper techniques.
· The ability to work flexible hours as needed and be on call
*Specific Responsibilities*
· Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to the organization’s mission, vison, and values
· Determines thehousing barriers of each individual and assists with diversion efforts, links with emergency/crisis services when needed, and completes an intake into shelter if necessary
· Compassionately receives new patrons, verifies homelessness status, completes intake, creates proper patron files, completes HMIS and Mission Tracker intake for all patrons to the shelter
· Orientates new patrons to the policy and procedures by following up on each intake during the first week in shelter and may include facilitating classes to help them get acclimated.
· Ability to complete reports, collect data and assist with grant reporting as needed
· Performs general administrative functions such as contributing to the debriefing log, answering the phone, and responding to emails in a professional manner
· Provide knowledge of resources at Degage Ministries and a refer patrons to specific, appropriate services
· Assist the Open Door staff with monitoring the activities of the patrons, record patron attendance, and maintain bed count
· Communicate any patron issues or concerns with the Open Door Manager and with the Open Door Patron Advocate
· Must attend all meetings and trainings
· Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the shelter.
· Complete work orders for any maintenance needs.
· Complete accurate timesheets
· Intentionally build strong relationships with patrons and support their needs as appropriate.
· Participate in special events as requested.
· Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Pay: From $18.
00 per hour
