Job Description Position Title: Director of Social Emotional Learning Unit: Professional Administrative Exempt Salary 110: The compensation range listed is based on average 1-15 years of experience.
*Specific salary paid is based on relevant years of experience.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Director of Social Emotional Learning will provide leadership and direction toward a vision of ensuring that all students develop the social and emotional skills they need to succeed in school and life.
In collaboration with other directors, the Director will supervise the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive approach to the social and emotional growth of students.
The Director will oversee all social-emotional learning practices and interventions to support students, as well as the social and emotional health and literacy needed for adults across the district.
Informed by current research and best practices in the SEL field, the Director will be responsible for assessing an SEL curriculum, measuring program effectiveness, and maintaining compliance with relevant laws.

Other essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: JOB FUNCTIONS: Work with the SEL district team to oversee the SEL systemic implementation process Develop and align strategies for schools and staff to promote increased and improved social-emotional practices and procedures.
Work with various departments to ensure that classroom staff, support staff, and families have the SEL tools and resources needed to support students and create trauma-informed spaces and practices.
Work with various departments to ensure that SEL curriculum is implemented both explicitly and integrated into core curriculum as well as district practices.
Ensure that SEL implementation is aligned and works in tandem with other district equity-related initiatives.
Collaborate with principals, program supervisors and directors to ensure student support programming and/or curricula is coordinated across the district.
Serves as a liaison to extended learning time programs to ensure SEL is embedded Serve as a member of various district and building-level committees to provide advice and insight on SEL issues.
Prepare and present reports to the school board, superintendent, and other district departments regarding the social emotional wellness trends in the district and the strengths, needs and proposed changes within support services.
Works with the curriculum department to design and implement professional workshop and in-services to support the social and emotional learning curriculum and incorporates best practices, including research on learning theory and content standards Coordinate and/or conduct staff development efforts appropriate to the needs of staff and parents with regards to social emotional wellness in the school setting.
Participate in appropriate district wide committees for the purpose of ensuring collaboration in safety and wellness concerns within the district wide goals for all students.
Communicate the vision, goals, plans, and progress of GRPS’ SEL initiative.
Generate reports that inform and assess the delivery of SEL - related student support in the district.
Design a method for measuring the effectiveness of the SEL strategies Design and deliver professional development sessions to increase system knowledge about the role of SEL to advance equity and improve academic achievement.
Mandatory in-person and on-time attendance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required Master’s degree preferred Experience in implementing SEL in an urban district Training in cultural competency, or willingness to receive multiple levels of cultural competency training Ability to provide training for all departments of GRPS, as well as families and community partners Experience training on various SEL strategies Experience collecting, maintaining and analyzing various student data Knowledge of effective, research-based classroom management strategies Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and experience working with and providing behavioral interventions for struggling students Ability to work closely with a team Demonstrated experience training adults.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with and providing behavioral interventions for struggling students Demonstrated experience working directly with students and families in urban districts Commitment to serving a diverse student and community population.
Ability to use a range of quantitative and qualitative data to enhance all students’ social emotional well-being.
Experience in and knowledge of equity principles and cultural competencies.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective, research-based social/emotional and mental health school-based supports.
Ability to establish and maintain trustful, confidential and supportive relationships.
Ability to foster collegiality and community among teachers through professional development.
Ability to encourage multiple perspectives and resolve conflicts as they occur.
Knowledge of adult learning needs and demonstrated effective facilitator of adult professional learning Effective facilitator of adult professional learning.
Possesses effective culturally effective communication skills.
Proficient in the use of technical computer applications, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and Google applications.
