Summary: Grand Valley State University Department of English seeks an Affiliate Faculty Member specializing in adolescent/young adult literacy.
Affiliate Faculty positions at GVSU are full-time (nine months) and long-term, but not tenure-track.
This Affiliate Faculty Member will be responsible for four courses per semester, most of which will be ENG 100: Reading for College Across the Majors, plus other courses as determined by department need (potential courses include methods courses for future teachers of English, such as ENG 310: Teaching Writing [Secondary], and ENG 311: Teaching Literature to Adolescents).
The position has no service or research requirements.

We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates from underrepresented groups, and from candidates who have interest and/or experience in working with diverse student and community populations.
Required Qualifications and Education: MA/MEd in Reading, Literacy, English, or a closely related field.
Experience in, demonstrated understanding of, or interest in the following: social justice education and/or initiatives; diversity, equity, and inclusion; or intercultural training.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect and empathy.
Evidence of successful literacy teaching at the K-12 or college level Preferred Qualifications and Education: Ph.
D.
or ABD in English Education, Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction, Rhetoric/Composition, Urban Education, or other related field.
Experience working with English Language Learners.
Responsibilities: Teaching up to 8 sections per year (4 sections per semester); most sections will be ENG 100: Reading for College Across the Majors Potentially teaching other English education courses, as needed Collaborating with English education faculty and other faculty/offices across the university, as needed Salary/Benefits: Salaries are competitive and calculated according to a combination of position requirements, discipline, professional rank, and experience.
