INTERVENTION PARAEDUCATOR
Qualifications:
Ability to provide small group instruction based on the needs determined collaboratively with the classroom teacher and building administrator
Special expertise in quality reading and math instruction, and infusing reading and math strategies into content area instruction
Familiarity with the Units of Study (Reading, Writing, and Phonics), the Leveled Literacy Intervention System, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, Orton Gillingham, and Bridges in Mathematics
Knowledge of, or willingness to be trained in, scientifically-based reading and math interventions
Experience working with students who have additional learning needs
Experience effectively managing K-5 learners
Willingness and commitment to include equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practice
Ability to track and analyze multiple data sources to drive instruction
Knowledge of elementary-level curriculum (preferred)
Ability to work independently and self-identify student needs
Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
Excellent attendance record and punctuality
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening skills)
Willingness to provide research-based interventions to small group/individual student(s)
Ability to plan and prepare materials and lessons for interventions
Willingness to conduct pre/post assessments and ongoing progress monitoring
Ability to document pre/post assessment scores and ongoing progress monitoring data
Willingness to perform other duties as assigned by the principal, including recess duty
High school diploma (with college level coursework in education preferred)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 15 hours per week
Location: Breton Downs Elementary
Rate: Support Staff Contract, Paraeducator Classification, Category III
