Job Description Position Title: Freshman Girls Basketball Coach (Secondary Grades 6-12) Unit: Athletics Pay Rate: Schedule C of the GREA contract and prior experience Earning Days: Determined annually by the calendar Schedule: 10 hours a week/ weeks per year 11/20/2023- 03/09/2024 GRPS MISSION: Our mission is to ensure that all students are educated, self-directed and productive members of society.
ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT MISSION: GRPS will create educational opportunities and experiences, through athletics, that will enhance student achievement, student development and school culture.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: A coach is responsible for organizing athletes and teaching them the fundamentals of sport.
A coach is responsible for training them to compete as a team and individually.

Modeling and teaching skills necessary to succeed.
Supporting student academic expectations, responsibilities, and achievements.
Developing the knowledge and understanding of Grand Rapids policies and procedures as it applies to athletics.
Promoting and enforcing the student-athlete code of conduct.
Connecting athletic experiences with life experiences.
Providing an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration among coaches and players Becoming an integral part of and developing rapport with, the Grand Rapids community including administration, coaches, parents, and students.
Modeling good sportsmanship always.
Creating and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for student athletes.
Understanding their leadership style and its impact on student-athletes.
Game and practice attire should be professional and appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: *Make sure to attach required documents* High School Diploma or GED required* (Attach a copy of your HS Diploma or GED, OR a copy of your unofficial college transcript) Must be 18 years of age or older and clear a criminal background check Playing experience at the high school or college level and/or coaching experience required* (Attach a resume highlighting your relevant coaching experience)* Proof of current First Aid and CPR certifications prior to the first day of coaching required* (Attach a copy of certifications) Must provide certificate of completion for online concussion training course from either the Centers for Disease Control or the National Federation of State High School Associations prior to the first day of coaching* (enroll asap and email a copy to careers@grps.
