K-12 Connect Tutor
The role:
As a K-12 Connect tutor, you will deliver high-dosage tutoring on a 1:1 or 1:2 tutor-student ratio with a framework that we provide.
Through the tutoring you deliver, you will build close connections with students and play an essential role in helping them succeed in
school.
There will also be ongoing paid training, development, and support for tutors.
Most tutoring is done in a virtual setting, so
applicants must have access to a computer and WIFI.
K-12 Connect will train you to provide relationship-based tutoring support in one or more of the following areas:
Reading (1st-9th grade)
Math (1st-9th grade)
High School Academic Mentoring
2023-24 tutoring cycle runs from:
September 11 - May 28, 2024
Training begins immediately upon hiring
Rolling tutoring start dates throughout the cycle
Highest need:
We need Instructors available on Tuesdays AND Thursdays from 4:00-5:00pm EST to tutor in person on the NE side of Grand
Rapids, MI and are comfortable working with a group of 3 students.
Preference will be given to College of Education students or
those with experience in education.
If chosen for the Instructor role, starting pay begins at $20/hour.
You can also work as a Tutor
(1:1 or 1:2 ratio) and an Instructor (1:3 ratio) simultaneously.
Overview of the K-12 Connect Tutoring program:
K-12 Connect provides academic support to K-12 learners through virtual, high-dosage tutoring services.
We offer direct-to-family tutoring
and partner with schools to provide personalized, contracted tutoring services.
All tutoring through K-12 Connect is approved for ESSER
spending and aligns with the Michigan Department of Education’s accelerated learning strategy.
We utilize highly trained tutors and offer
flexible scheduling to accommodate student and school needs.
Requirements and Qualifications:
At least 12 college course credits completed
Access to a computer with working webcam, microphone, speakers, and a reliable internet connection
Legal requirements: USA work eligibility
Completion of background check at the time of hiring
Desired Skills:
Working with kids
Flexibility and adaptability to the often fast-paced and changing school environment
Learning and developing through constructive feedback
Ability to connect with a wide range of people
Strong communication skills to initiate learning relationships with parents, students, and school staff
Reliability and commitment to meeting with the same student at the same time each week
Pay: Starting pay is $14.
70/hr; hours vary, between 8-29hr/wk
