*JOB SUMMARY: *To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *_other duties may be assigned_
* Teaches district approved curriculum
* Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
* Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
* Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
* Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom hours by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
* Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
* Evaluate student’s academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports
* Identify student needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans
* Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes
* Plan and coordinate the work of parapros, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips
* Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student
* Create an environment for learning through functional and attractive display interest centers and exhibits of student's work
*QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:*
* Highly qualified to teach elementary students
* Well-versed in best practice instruction methods
* Expertise in differentiated learning
* Exceptional passion for teaching and learning
* High aptitude for forming positive relationships with colleagues, students and parents
* Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals focused on student achievement
* Exceptional use of technology as a teaching tool
* Highest level of integrity and professionalism both in and out of the classroom
* Flexibility in schedule and teaching methods
*EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:*
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
*CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:*
Valid Michigan teaching certificate
ZG (K-8 All Subjects) endorsement
