The Michigan State University College of Human Medicine’s Department of Emergency Medicine invites applications for a fixed-term faculty position focused on out-of-hospital health services research.
The Department of Emergency Medicine (EM) was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Michigan’s Region 6, which includes 13 counties and is served by 22 hospitals, 138 EMS Agencies, 12 Medical Control Authorities and 7 local Health Departments.
The diverse populations and capabilities across the region offer the opportunity to develop and test scalable solutions for regionalization of care for time-sensitive emergencies such as stroke, STEMI, cardiac arrest, and trauma.
Drs.
Josh Reynolds and Adam Oostema have established lines of inquiry in the areas of out-of-hospital cardiac resuscitation and stroke care.
Further development and expansion of these programs beyond the local setting would be greatly facilitated through mentorship and our new connection to the Henry Ford health system.
The out-of-hospital health services researcher will demonstrate effectiveness in securing grant funding for prehospital research initiatives and programs and mentor other faculty in grantsmanship.
Goals and expectations include:
Establish community engagement and outreach in support of out-of-hospital health services.
Outreach to other investigators locally, regionally, and nationally to foster synergy and hasten the pace of achieving health equity in out-of-hospital care.
Strengthening collaborations with colleagues and industry partners.
Support pilot initiatives that will enhance the acquisition of larger foundation and federal grants.
Share their work through presentations and publications.
Educate mentees seeking to be investigators of impact.
