Position Title: Tenure-Track Faculty, Educational Foundations, College of Education and Community Innovation (CECI) Summary: The Department of Literacy, Educational Foundations, and Technology in the College of Education and Community Innovation (CECI) at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) seeks a colleague for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank in Educational Foundations to begin in August 2024.
We seek candidates from a diverse pool of scholars with expertise (teaching and/or research) in pre-K-12 assessment and educational research methods.
We particularly invite applications from candidates who can demonstrate professional and applied experiences with culturally responsive pedagogy and/or gender and sexualities.
Candidates with demonstrated experience with social justice education and/or diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives/training are also preferred.
Required Qualifications and Education: Ph.

, or ABD (with an expected graduation by August 1, 2024) in Social and Cultural Foundations of Education or a closely related field (such as Teacher Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Studies, Curriculum Studies) Demonstrated potential for university teaching in one or more of the following areas: pre-K-12 assessment; educational research methods; social, historical, or philosophical foundations of education; teacher education Positive record of experience (teaching, research, other professional roles) in Pre-K-12 environments Demonstrated understanding of and/or commitment to teaching students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds with an equity focus Effective oral, written, and collaborative interpersonal skills Commitment to using various modalities of instruction including: face-to-face, online synchronous, asynchronous, hybrid, and distance learning technologies as well as deliver courses on weekends Preferred Qualifications and Education: Strong background in culturally responsive teaching/pedagogy and/or gender and sexuality studies; Completion of doctoral studies; Evidence of student-centered and relationship-centered teaching; Demonstrated commitment to teaching with an intersectional lens; Demonstrated engagement with or interest in using a variety of pedagogies that consider multiple forms of oppression (race, class, gender, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, age); Evidence of an active research agenda; Evidence of collaborative endeavors with colleagues (e.

, research, teaching, curriculum development, etc.
) Responsibilities – Essential Functions: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Educational Foundations (including research methods and assessment in both face-to-face and online modalities (three courses in the fall semester, three courses in the winter semester) Advise students in the teacher education program Developing and maintaining a scholarly research agenda Willingness to provide service the institution, community, and profession Willingness and ability to travel to all GVSU sites, including distance sites, for instruction We encourage applications from candidates who are from underrepresented groups and who have interest and/or experience in working with historically marginalized communities and/or students of marginalized identities.
