Reports To: Counseling Supervisor
Join our team of highly trained, skilled and educated staff as we provide 21st century training, education and job counseling to the students who live and train at our center.
The Job Corps program is a federally funded program for youth age 16-24.
Our simple purpose is to help young people improve the quality of their lives by empowering them to get great jobs, college opportunities, enlist in the military and other training and apprenticeships in order to become independent.

Summary of Duties:
The Residential Advisor ensures a safe, supportive, dormitory environment for students at the Job Corp Center.
Provides supervision in daily activities.
Monitors student progress in attaining performance goals and objectives.
Utilizes behavior management and intentional, consistent practices.
Conducts dormitory operations following policies and procedures.
Description of Duties:
Assists students in adjusting to Center life by providing supervision, behavior modification and acting as a mentor.
Creates a warm/welcoming atmosphere for students.
Provides informal counseling related to stress management, personal problems, emergency or home situations, etc.
, with students, and provides insight into responsible behavior and attitudes.
Facilitates small group discussions in life skills, peer mediation, conflict resolution, budgeting, renter’s rights, completing a lease, completing chores, etc.
Provides daily supervision or assistance in monitoring students in personal hygiene, room/chore assignments, special recreation activities, cafeteria monitoring, transportation, and programmed activities.
Ensures that students meet required schedule, waking on time and being on time for school or work assignments and are dressed appropriately and adequately prepared for the training day.
Ensures dormitory is clean and well maintained.
Performs regular perimeter checks to ensure safety and security.
Documents student’s records.
Accesses and inputs relevant student data, including attendance, performance, progress, discipline, etc.
Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, emotional trauma, etc.
Provides CPR/First Aid as warranted.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED.
Certifications/Licenses:
Valid state driver’s license
CPR/First Aid certifications (training provided upon hire)
