JobID: 6479 Position Type: Support Staff/ParaProfessional - Attendance Date Posted: 4/9/2024 Location: Discovery Elementary School Closing Date: 04/16/2024 Position: Paraprofessional - Attendance Schedule: 8 hours/day – 5 days/week – 42 weeks/year -Full time with Benefits POSITION PURPOSE: Under the direct supervision of the building principal this position is responsible for all collection, maintenance, submission and reporting of attendance, pupil accounting, student registration, enrollment and immunization information.
This individual communicates with families and staff and assists the office staff with daily operations.
Essential Job Functions: Provide support for the Elementary office student attendance Receive class and routes communication in the Elementary office.
Maintain child accounting records, filing and posting these records appropriately and according to required timelines.
Review daily student attendance on district-wide network.
Compile all attendance reports required by the Michigan Department of Education according to required timelines.
Issue tardy and absence slips during the school day, prepares daily attendance reports.
Check unconfirmed student absences by telephone.
Work with Building Principal regarding potential truancy issues.
Type attendance related correspondence.
Administer medication to students as described in district policies and state guidelines.
Distribute and collect forms related to student registration.
Schedule students on system to allow teachers to view students for attendance taking.
Reviews student database to insure student rollover is processed accurately.
Regular, reliable and punctual attendance Additional Duties: Prepare student immunization reports and submit to Health Department according to required timeline.
Administer medication to students as described in district policies and state guidelines.
Maintain all student health records.
Data entry assigned by Principal.
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
Assist with the supervision of students including lunchroom and playground when needed.
Equipment: Use standard office equipment, such as personal computers and copiers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in an economically, culturally and racially diverse environment.

Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Two years of office experience preferred.
Excellent phone/people skills Confidentiality and ability to work with many individuals in a busy office a must Skilled in the use of Microsoft word, computer application equipment, and willing and able to learn District programs and software applications Able to be maintain a flexible schedule in a busy, school office environment Willing and able to learn district software and programs Able to develop and maintain constructive relationships with students, parents Ability to work independently with minimal direction?
