Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirements
High school diploma or equivalent;
Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Act—Associate’s Degree or have scored at least a passing score of 460 on the ETS Parapro Assessment or previously qualified using WorkKeys results.
Ability to work with children in a caring, nurturing manner
Consistent and punctual attendance
CPI & CPR trained preferred (or ability to be trained);
Ability to be flexible with varying student needs and schedule changes
Ability and willingness to perform recess monitoring, bus unloading, sensory integration and lunchroom supervision, as necessary;
Provide supports to students within general education and resource room locations
Effective communication skills (oral & written) with a variety of staff and students
Must demonstrate initiative, positive teamwork and organization skills
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Ability to monitor and manage student behavior
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Technology literate
Ability to follow, implement and document all aspects of Positive Behavior Intervention Plan
Participate in district provided professional development
Perform all other duties assigned by the classroom teachers, principal and/or Director of Special Education
