Purchased at auction as a new / open box item, this switch was opened by a customer, then returned, and the retailer sent it to an auction house rather than re-shelve it.
Given that the box was opened I have both inspected and function tested the switch.
While the outer cardboard is marred (including the prior shipping label being removed with a box cutter, taking off the outer layer of cardboard), the switch itself is in excellent / like new physical condition.
NOTE: On detailed inspection and comparison to the inventory of what is included with these switches, I have found that the pack of 4 small adhesive rubber feet (an option included for sitting the switch on a desk instead of rack-mounting it) are missing.
The 4 rack-mount screws intended to secure the switch to the rack rails are also missing.
Rack-mount screws and adhesive rubber feet replacements are very cheaply available on both Amazon and eBay.
All other contents have been verified.
No way to know if the prior customer failed to put them back in or if the switch was returned because it was missing these.
Aside from an inventory and careful physical inspection, I also function tested the switch.
The switch powers on and provides pass-through internet connectivity 2 minutes and 45 seconds after connecting power.
The switch completes it's final self-checks and presents the waiting-for-install / configuration light blink code (the 'cloud' light alternates between orange and green) at 3 minutes 15 seconds after connecting power.
To ensure I did not associate this switch with any account (leaving it available for you to do so without complications or frustration), I did not set it up with the app, but instead went to the web interface to confirm the default login credentials work correctly and that it had not already been set up.
I have not changed the login credentials (default is admin with the password field left blank).
For configuration, if you want the easy route I advise using their app.
If you want to go through manual configuration, please google 'Aruba 1830 installation guide'.
The first result is the 41 page 'Aruba Instant On 1830 Installation and Getting Started' PDF.
I found it quite helpful.
You will receive: the Aruba Instant On 1830 48-port switch (24 POE ports) (SN: VN29KYG1Z8), a standard power cable, 2x rack-mount corner brackets (currently attached with the original 8x screws for mounting the brackets on the switch), 1x quick start guide card, 1x Aruba Safety, Compliance, and Warranty Information pamphlet, 1x Aruba Safety/Regulatory information QR and link paper, 1x warranty information paper, the original internal packaging (plastic bags and rigid foam bracing), and the original box (damaged cardboard).
I generally respond to email contact within an hour or two.
Next day response at worst if I'm extremely busy at work.
