Phonathon Manager DEPARTMENT: Advancement-Development WORK LOCATION: Grand Rapids - Lettinga Campus POSITION PAY RANGE: $12.
50 (Please note: Actual pay offered will be commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience, the type of role, pay equity and available funding) WHAT WE DO Davenport University’s Office of Advancement Phonathon program employs students each semester to call and connect with alumni all over the country.
The Office of Advancement builds relationships with alumni and donors and last year raised $8.
4M for the university.
The call center has four calling stations in which over 12,000 phone call attempts are made each year, which results in personal connections with more than 2,000 alumni.
The Phonathon program secures around $8,000 annually from hundreds of alumni donors.
ELIGIBILITY We are currently accepting applications for Phonathon Managers.
If you are a work-study or non-work-study student currently enrolled with a minimum of six (6) undergraduate credit hours or three (3) graduate credit hours at Davenport University, you are eligible to apply HOW WE WORK: We strive to create a fun work environment where people are happy, productive, and work well together.
You will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of the Phonathon program.
This position requires strong management, verbal and written communication skills, and ability to think strategically in a fast paced-environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Assistant Director, manage a team of 8-10 Student Development Officers and report results and progress towards goals, strategy and challenges to Assistant Director on a nightly basis.
Establish a positive rapport with student callers and alumni and lead by example.
Recruit, interview, hire, and coordinate employment of all Phonathon student personnel.
Ensures proper attendance and success of callers by monitoring callers, them towards improvement, and implementing an incentive plan to motivate callers.
Provide professional leadership that promotes trust, cooperation, and high levels of performance to the Phonathon student employees.
Facilitate ongoing student training on the essentials of fundraising for University funding priorities and best practices in phone solicitation while maintaining Davenport’s relational, donor-centric approach to fundraising and our strong commitment to alumni, parents, and friends of the University.
Create an atmosphere of respect, enthusiasm, empowerment, and professionalism amongst Phonathon student staff Customize Phonathon scripts for various constituents, preparing student callers for conversations with all segments of Davenport’s constituency.
In collaboration with the Assistant Director, set the annual Phonathon solicitation calendar and strategy to ensure that the phonathon program supports overarching Annual Giving goals and priorities.
Be an ambassador and convey a positive and professional attitude about Davenport University Handle all personal information with extreme confidentiality.
Provide GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.
Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies.
This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Enthusiasm for Davenport and its mission.
Must be available to work Monday-Thursday evening, including one call shift per week.
Excellent management skills, including ability to manage multiple projects seamlessly.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including active listening skills.
Organizational abilities and strong attention to detail.
Strong character and positive professional who works well in a team environment Ability to maintain effective, consistent and constructive communication with Director of Advancement.
Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
Prior experience in fundraising and/or knowledge of Development/Advancement structure and process preferred.
Proficient in use of social media platforms and software applications, databases, spreadsheets word-processing.
Business office environment.
Prolonged sitting and standing.
Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain).
May require some travel.
No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
