*JOB DESCRIPTION*
*Title: *Director of Operations
*Position Reports to:* COO, Integrator
*Production Planning*
* Work with all departments to create daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules and forecasts.
* Plan for proper staffing for production needs in a cost-effective manner.
* Oversee and responsible for production metrics (accuracy, timelines).
* Conduct daily “stand-up” huddle to coordinate production priorities.
* Ensure production processes adhere to MIOSHA safety standards.
* Understand product line and packaging quality standards and incorporate them into corresponding work processes.
* Adhere to “5S” and other lean principles, looking for ways to improve the operation and the plant product flow, including recommendations for equipment modification or upgrades (i.
e.
, capital investments).
* Work with Procurement Analyst to ensure inventory cost control and availability of all items related to production and wholesale, especially with product velocity changes.
* Identify and minimize potential sources of time and material waste.
*Food Safety & Plant Maintenance*
* Lead Schuil’s Food Safety Team, maintaining current GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards; responsible for passing annual GMP and USDA Organic certifications.
* Manage HACCP program and ensure preventative controls are in place.
* Responsible for maintaining SQF status.
* Monitor and execute (working with Finance) on all plant equipment maintenance and repair, including delivery vehicle maintenance.
* Oversee the execution of plant equipment preventative maintenance programs.
* Execute building maintenance program, utilizing outside vendors as necessary.
*Direct-To-Consumer E-commerce Fulfillment*
* Oversee e-commerce fulfillment team.
* Ensure e-commerce fulfillment department metrics are achieved (labor %, error rates, days lapsed).
* Set goals and expectations for team, encouraging a strong connection between e-commerce fulfillment and production (for core items).
*Team Leadership*
* Serve as an active participant of Schuil’s Leadership (Executive) Team.
* Manage team of 15+, providing leadership, oversight, support, training, and performance evaluation.
* Ensure a high level of employee engagement and satisfaction.
* Lead with Schuil’s five Core Principals in mind: Celebrate Service, Assume the Best, Give a Damn, Embrace Growth, and Find the Fun.
* Championing EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) principles throughout the department.
*Requirements*
* 5+ years of work experience in manufacturing, preferably within the food industry.
* Leadership experience utilizing lean systems preferably in a food facility environment.
* Mechanical aptitude; understands equipment functions and operation.
* Exposure to a food safety program.
* Demonstrated problem solving skills using relevant data.
* Project management experience.
* Critical eye for processes and a passion for continuous improvement.
* Must be able to lift 50 pounds with some degree of frequency.
* Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
* High attention to detail and strong service orientation.
* Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Google Workspace.
* Patience and listening skills to respond appropriately and interact positively with employees, customers, and vendors.
* Decision-making skills - addressing the best way to handle specific tasks.
* BS/BA degree (Engineering preferred, but not required).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.
00 - $65,000.
