Overview:
ABC Technologies is looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to manage a shift and meet production requirements by ensuring that the proper quantity and quality of parts are being finished and standards maintained.
To ensure that employees are properly trained, work efficiently, receive regular job performance feedback and work safely in a well-maintained and clean workplace.
This applies to any time that his/her shift is performing any function.
3rd shift (11pm-7am)
Objectives:
Motivate employees by resolving issues and making sound decisions.
Serve as a conduit of communication between employees and senior managers.
Implement business strategy, assigning roles and tasks to dedicated team members based on their strengths and abilities.
Identify and implement changes for cost reduction and waste elimination.
Development of team leads.
Responsibilities:
Direct employees in meeting quality and on-time delivery requirements, address production challenges, and communicate issues to managers.
Partner with production department in managing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their responsibilities and delegated tasks.
Set performance goals and deadlines.
Monitor team productivity and provide performance evaluations, constructive feedback, mentorship, and disciplinary action when necessary.
Receive, track, and resolve complaints from employees.
Maintain timekeeping and personnel records.
Provide information, instruction, and supervision on health and safety to protect employees.
Carry and enforce ABC workplace safety guidelines.
Apply first aid treatment to an injured employee immediately and seek out medical assistance.
Ensure that all team members in the production area have the proper PPE and are working safely.
Complete accident and first aid reports and turn into HR in a timely manner.
Development of employees.
Listen to employees’ problems and concerns when they arise and seek a prompt mutually acceptable resolution.
Make recommendations about discipline and discharge.
Report all unallocated labor daily.
Inform new employees of company policies, practices, and procedures.
Oversee progress of training, ensuring that employees meet job standard.
When a probationary employee does not meet the job standard, discuss with HR and Manager the necessary steps for termination or discipline of the employee.
Giving performance reviews.
Ensure all finished products meets established quality specifications.
Review daily shift production report.
Discuss and advise Team Leaders of the daily production requirements and relay any special instructions.
Ensure work instructions are followed.
Cooperate, participate, and lead corrective actions.
Assist HR with tracking employee attendance, overtime, and scheduling.
Contribute to a work environment free from harassment, where fairness, equity and non-discriminatory practices are standard.
Adhere to the quality policy and environmental policy.
Qualifications:
Education:
Post Secondary education or equivalent or five (5) years related manufacturing experience
Skills:
Strong organizational skills
Ability to evaluate, plan, analyze and make viable decision in a JIT work environment to ensure efficiency and timely implementation
Basic understanding of budgets and financial reporting
Excellent time and multiple project management skills and experience
Good English language written and verbal communication skills with fluency in other languages being an asset
Excellent computer skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Supervisory Skills
Basic knowledge of Employment law including ESA 2000, Human Rights Code and OHSA
