Job Description The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support to Manufacturing as well as supporting the design and launch of new products and equipment.
The main responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineer is to focus on continuous improvement and sustainability of equipment and processes in the assembly and molding departments.
The ideal candidate should work well with large amounts of data, can manage small projects independently, possess a solid understanding of technical systems and understands the importance of meeting deadlines to support larger objectives.
The candidate will take initiative to solve problems and support additional Manufacturing Engineering activities as necessary.
Drive improvement in all manufacturing processes using the ITW Toolbox.
Conduct ongoing analyses of products and processes to identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
Work with other Engineers in creating and updating programming standards for PLCs and HMIs, design standards for electrical/pneumatic systems.
Create and edit operation and troubleshooting manuals for automation systems.
Participate in project and design review meetings as required.
Meet project budget, schedule, and deadlines.
Assist in new product development and modifications and revisions to existing products and processes.
Coordinate and conduct validations (IQ, OQ, PQ) Investigate and install new methods, layouts, equipment, and process analysis that improve overall operation of the plant.
Develop and implement work instructions and standardization of processes.
Troubleshoot processes which are prone to be frequent or major production problems.
Provides technical support to manufacturing, engineering, quality, marketing, customer service, and management as needed.
Will participate in “special projects” assignments are required.
Comply with OSHA Safety and Health regulations, along with other federal, state, and local regulations regarding environmental, industrial, and electrical mandates.
Support Engineering with costing, electrical and controls concepts for new applications.
Provide leadership to shop floor technical support staff.
(Process Technicians and Set-Ups) Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Plastics, or Mechanical) required.
A minimum of 2+ years related work experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role in a high-volume automated manufacturing environment required.
Ability to read and understand complex instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Experience with core process control tools such as Process Flow Diagrams, Process FMEAs, Process Control Plans, SPC, MSA, Process Capability.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to carry out detailed, complex oral or written instructions.
Experience using problem-solving techniques such as Six-Sigma, 8-Discipline, Pareto Charts, Regression Analysis, ANOVA, DOE, Fish Bone Analysis, Red-X, to address complex issues.
Must have good communication skills and excellent listening skills.
Working knowledge of Quality and Automotive systems such as ISO 9000 and IATF 16949.
Computer experience is preferred with knowledge of Microsoft office.
Novice electrical and mechanical knowledge needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to use Allen-Bradley software to design and program PLCs and HMIs.
Program PLC’s using ladder logic.
Test, troubleshoot and debug automation systems.
AutoCAD or other drafting software experience.
