Our 12-week paid internship program offers firsthand experience and meaningful projects that have an impact on our business.
Throughout the program, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals receiving mentorship, professional development and networking opportunities that will expose you to various aspects of our industry.
Build Connections By: Working alongside professionals in a wide variety of departments with internships available in the following areas: Communications & Legal Risk IT Legal, Risk, Communications Finance Human Resources Marketing & Merchandising Supply Chain Build a Career: As an intern in the Software Engineering department, you will be part of a close-knit team engaged in the development of GFS’ custom software applications.
You will work in a highly collaborative agile environment, working tightly with software engineers, product owners, and system architects to deliver leading-edge customer solutions.
At your fingertips will be a modern technical environment, including Google Cloud Platform, GitLab, TerraForm, and Google Kubernetes Engine.
You will have the opportunity to do the following: Complete assigned deliverables for software development and testing Produce clear and complete documentation of work performed Contribute ideas to process improvement activities as advised Collaborate with others to coordinate efforts and achieve team objectives Adhere to the purpose and philosophy of GFS, including, but not limited to, the cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization In addition to the impactful work you will complete within your department, you will: Assist with projects tied to Gordon Food Service’s strategic initiatives.
Gain knowledge of the business, workplace etiquette, and business communication.
Work 1:1 with a Talent Acquisition Specialist to revamp your resume.
Work on cross-functional teams to present impactful business solutions to senior leadership.
Build the Future by: Being an intern at Gordon Food Service, North America's largest family-owned broadline food service distributor.
Meeting the following qualifications to be considered for our 2024 internship program: Currently enrolled in a university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Incoming Junior or Senior status as of May 2024 (Minimum of 56 credit hours) Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.
0 or higher Must be authorized to work in the US.
Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and proficiency in an object-oriented development language.
Java is preferred, but other languages such as C# and C++ will be considered.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
A curious mindset and a willingness to learn.
