About the role:
We are looking for a motivated, independent, and reliable software engineering intern to join our team.
You will work closely with our Lift Truck Solutions (LTS) engineering department.
The software engineering intern will gain hands-on coding experience and exposure to the full software development lifecycle.
You will support a range of software initiatives including technology research, user interface design, web development, issue tracking, version control, and software support.
What you will do:
Web Design – Assist with design of features and tools to help support software engineers, customers and users.
Web Development – Assist with the creation of web application software to support and enhance our LTS suite of applications.
Feature Story Tracking – Gain experience with the software development life cycle using Jira to track design, features, implementation, and maintenance of LTS products and initiatives.
Version Control – Utilize tools like GitKraken to manage code commits to our Git version control system to maintain stable and robust source code.
Software Support – Gain experience working alongside a developer while on a software support rotation learning the analytical skills needed to help identify and troubleshoot issues.
You will help design and implement solutions to solve issues reported by internal and external customers.
Learn interpersonal soft skills required in communicating with end customers and the importance of providing excellent customer service and support.
Technology Research – Research technologies to help determine the best approach for a problem needing a software solution.
Professional and Personal Growth – gain professional, real-world experience working as part of a software development team.
Learn the importance of keeping up to date with technologies by continuous learning, character building, personal growth through goal setting, action, dedication, perseverance and discipline.
When & Where:
This is a part-time position that will be hybrid in our Grand Rapids office.
What you need to have:
Pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering or related field.
In good academic standing with a GPA of 3.
0 or higher
Classified as an incoming junior, senior, or graduate student (completed 60 or more semester hours)
Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship in the future.
Able to occasionally work onsite in the Grand Rapids office.
Able to work remotely in a professional environment with little distractions and a reliable internet connection.
Available to complete the 10-week internship program working part-time hours (30 hours per week on average)
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
Flexibility to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, both in office and remote.
Ability to work independently and with others.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, Outlook, and Excel.
Familiarity with Visual Studio, C#, .
NET.
What would be nice to have:
Web development knowledge JavaScript, Ajax, etc.
Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including DevOps and CI/CD.
Knowledge of Git version control and Jira issue tracking.
Knowledge of Agile principles and practices.
